How To Claim Your Bitcoin Gold BTG

I have been waiting and waiting to claim my Bitcoin Gold, I have been very sceptical with it all to say the least but I have finally claimed it and I believe it is the safest way. This guide will be written with using Bitcoin Core so if you use another wallet this method may not be perfect for you but if you control your private key it should be very similar

First things first create another wallet with Bitcoin core making sure you back up the new wallet.dat and the old wallet.dat. Move your funds into your new wallet, this is now your safe wallet that you will keep using. Your old wallet.dat will be the one that has the Bitcoin Gold, this is the one we are going to extract the keys from

Add Bitcoin Gold to Coinomi Android app, this is straight from Coinomi website

Add BitcoinGold

Now open your wallet, click on the top left menu, then hit the “+ COINS” button in the button and select “BitcoinGold” from the mind-blowing list of Coinomi’s 86 supported coins and 214 tokens.

A pop-up dialogue will appear, asking if BitcoinGold should be added. Hit the “ADVANCED SETTINGS” button. If you clicked “Add” instead you need to delete your BitcoinGold wallet and add a new one. In the “Derivation Path” please enter:

M/44H/0H/0H

Please note that the characters before “H” are zeroes and not O’s.

Hint: If you have more than one Bitcoin wallets in your Coinomi and want to claim the equivalent BTG you will have to repeat the above process, replacing each time the last zero with the (zero-based) account index, so for the second wallet this would be M/44H/0H/1H, for the third wallet it would be M/44H/0H/2H, and so forth.

Now click “ADD”.

That’s it! Your $BTG wallet is now ready!

Go to your Bitcoin Core wallet

If your wallet is protected by a passphrase (i.e you have to enter a passphrase before you can send) unlock it by typing
walletpassphrase "your walletpassphrase here" 600
dumpprivkey [your Bitcoin address here]

1.) Open Debug Window in your wallet
2.) type listaddressgroupings
3.) check every address for its balance https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin%20gold/
4.) if address has some coins in it type dumppkey + address
5.) now you have the private key
6.) sweep it into Coinomi wallet

Now you should have your Bitcoin Gold! DO NOT give your private key to anyone, although this wallet is now empty of Bitcoin you now have this private key for your Bitcoin Gold. I transferred my Bitcoin Gold straight from Coinomi into an exchange and dumped half of it
